Né en 1954 au Cameroun, René Tchebetchou vit et travaille à Yaoundé. Licencié en art plastique de l’université de Paris VIII et ancien chef de Bureau des Arts au Ministère de la culture, il expose ses œuvres depuis 1974 au Cameroun et en-dehors (Côte d’Ivoire, Sénégal, Nigeria, Allemagne, France). L’artiste totalise plus de quarante ans de métier, enrichis d’une médaille d’argent aux jeux de la francophonie en 1994 à Paris, d’une participation à la biennale de Dak’art en 1996 et d’une trentaine d’expositions, essentiellement individuelles. Il fait de l’aquarelle et de l’acrylique ses techniques de prédilection. Il a dispensé des cours privés de 1995 à 2000 et a participé aux éditions d’Estampes Chamalières en France, de 1994 à 2000.

Born in 1954 in Cameroon, René Tchebetchou lives and works in Yaoundé. With a degree in the visual arts from Université Paris VIII and former head of Bureau des Arts at the Cameroonian ministry of culture, he has exhibited his works since 1974 in Cameroon and abroad (Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nigeria, Germany, France). The artist has more than forty years of experience. He was awarded a silver medal at the 1994 Jeux de la francophonie in Paris, participated in the Dak’art biennale in 1996, and has had his works shown in around thirty exhibitions, mostly one-man shows. He has made watercolor and acrylic his techniques of choice. He taught private courses from 1995 to 2000 and was involved in Estampes Chamalières publications in France from 1994 to 2000.
